Mathias Mhere shuns wife at Birthday celebration

Mathias Mhere
Gospel Star, Mathias Mhere, left guests shell-shocked at his 27th birthday celebrations last Sunday at Kingstons House when he snubbed his wife Susan Dzinamarira.

According to a local tabloid, she was relegated to be part of the crowd. Mhere invited a married woman identified as Mai Manyere-believed to be a church mate-for his cake cutting while Susan remained seated in the crowd.

Interestingly, Mai Manyere’s husband was also part of the crowd and the director of ceremony told him (Mr Manyere)-in jest-that it was only for cake cutting. “This is only for cake cutting VaManyare; don’t you worry, nothing will happen afterwards,” said the director of ceremonies.

As if that was not enough, Mai Manyere went on to ‘feed’ some pieces of cake to Mhere using her hands, a role usually played by the other half for those in holy matrimony.

Mai Manyere went on to serve the cake, and Susan initially refused to take the cake when she was served. She only took a small piece after Mai Manyere insisted but the two women in her company refused to eat the delicacy.

The Favour singer ‘deliberately’ omitted his wife’s name when he made introductions of ‘special’ people. Mhere only acknowledged the presence of his mother, his brother along with his wife, producer Lyton Ngolomi and Businessman Killer Zivhu and Chamu Chiwanza.

He referred to them as pillars of strength who had helped him blossom in his musical career. Social norms dictate that Susan should have been in charge of proceedings but she cut a lonely figure as she arrived on her own and a ‘well wisher’ had to help her up the wet stairs to the Venue.

There was no seat reserved for her in the so-called VIP section and the ushers as if on cue brushed her aside.

Mhere arrived a little while later on his own and this sparked speculation that their reconciliation might have been plastic.

Mhere and his wife Susan grabbed headlines early this year when the singer discovered that his wife had been cheating on him with his former best friend Gift Mahlupeka. Gift however, up to now, denies the allegations saying it all had been a publicity stunt to boost Mhere’s new album sales.
