'Most of my lyrics are a form of revelation from God' - Tocky Vibes

Tocky Vibes
Man of the moment Tocky Vibes has declared that he is a prophet, but unlike biblical prophets, his message comes in the form of music. The dancehall chanter was in Bulawayo last week for a show. On the sidelines, he told B-Metro how his lyrics come about.

“Most of my lyrics are a form of revelation from the Almighty, these are things I believe are from God, therefore I am here to inform and entertain my fans on a new level,” he said.

Tocky Vibes is no stranger to Christian circles. He has in the past performed at shows promoted by Prophet Walter Magaya’s Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries.

But his music career is on a make or break pedestal. He has moved away from using backup tracks that most of his peers use, instead, just like Winky D, the young crooner has taken to using a live band.“There is nothing that doesn’t work my brother.

I am doing live performances because that’s what works for me. Just because it didn’t work for someone I don’t have to stop doing it. As far as we are concerned fans appreciate this level of creativity,” he said.

Tocky performed alongside a 10-member band that used marimba and other contemporary music instruments creating a well fused modern African sound. However, Tocky admitted that performing with a band had its downfalls.

“Most of the times during performances I have to look at the band to check if we are in sync and look at the crowd as well. Thus I will be controlling two things. I have to know if the crowd is happy in as much as I will be looking forward to a great deliverance from the band,” he said. BMetro
