REVEREND Togarepi Tapera Chivaviro emerged the biggest winner scooping three awards at the second edition of Prophets Emmanuel and Ruth Makandiwa Invitational Concert (Permican) awards held on Saturday at City Sports Centre, Harare.

Chivaviro received Song of the year (2015) award for his track Ebenezer, Songwriter of the Year award and Best Video Producer of the Year award at a colourful ceremony that was attended by hundreds of people from different corners of the country.

He could not hold back tears of joy as received his Song of the Year award.

“We are so motivated and humbled as we did not expect that we will get these three awards. Ebenezer is not just a song to us, but an anointing meant to uplift everyone in society. We thank our fans and the Ebenezer family for supporting us and Christ TV for recognising gospel musicians,” Chivaviro said.

Other musicians, who were honoured on the night include Michael Mahendere, who received the Best Male Artist and Best Album of the Year awards and Charles Charamba, who walked away with the Legend of the Year award.

The event, meant to honour local gospel musicians, was officiated by Makandiwa and his wife, who are also the awards organisers through the Christ TV, an arm of the United Family International Church.

Addressing the artistes, Makandiwa said gospel musicians have an important role to play in society.

“You are such a gift to all of us and we pray that you continue to help us and God will protect you. May God, by his mercies and power, grant unto you everything you so desire,” Makandiwa said.

“You are so much loved, we respect you, we honour you, we salute you and may God bless you as you continue to do the good work knowing that there is a God in heaven and on earth who sees every effort you put in your work.”

Top South African gospel musician Loyiso Bala was the guest artistes at the event and did not disappoint, as he went on to put a top notch performance, which left many clamouring for more. Newsday
