Zim rainy season kicks off


Rains experienced over the weekend reached a high of 70mm range in Karoi, Mashonaland West Province, with the Meteorological Services Department saying the country is now officially in its farming season.

According to the Meteorological Services Department, the rains experienced over the weekend are important to the farming sector, whose season has begun in earnest. 

Senior Meteorologist, Mr Tich Zinyemba said the rains were experienced in all areas of the country from Saturday. 

On Sunday, Karoi topped the amount of rainfall received with 70mm, followed by Mvurwi in Mashonaland Central, which received 48mm and Harare's Belvedere receiving 47mm. 

In Masvingo Province, Zaka received 44mm, Masvingo city 17mm, while Chiredzi had 22mm on Saturday. 

Matabeleland South also had its fare share of the downpours with Plumtree receiving 16mm on Saturday, while West Nicholson got 23mm on the same day. ZBC
