Extra Kwazvose front man Francis Dhaka, widely known as Franco Slomo, was involved in a car accident in Chivhu on his way from South Africa on Wednesday morning. The nimble-footed dancer-cum-musician sustained head injuries in the accident.
He was admitted at Parirenyatwa Hospital and discharged yesterday afternoon. The accident took place when the musician was coming from his debut South African show that was held at Borksburg Hotel.
He was accompanied by his manager Darlington Chipanera. Narrating the ordeal Chipanera said the car they hiked in Beitbridge hit a cow after Chivhu and veered off the road.
“We were together in the car, unfortunately he was the one who was affected much. We rushed him to Chitungwiza hospital and he was referred to Parirenyatwa. He sustained head injuries but he is responding well to medication,” he said.
He hopes that the musician will get well and resume his shows soon. “He is now at home but he is complaining of some pain. We hope he will recover soon and be back to the stage,” he said.
Efforts to get Franco were fruitless as his mobile phone was not reachable. Since the split of Extra Kwazvose that had Noel Nyazanda, Obert Gomba and Jonasi Kasamba, Franco moved on of with the outfit.
He released an album “Zvipo Zvedu” and has been holding shows in different parts of the country. In South Africa he reportedly staged a good show that left many convinced that he has a chance to make it.
“The good show was spoiled by the accident but we are grateful to our fans and the promoters in South Africa for giving us chance to prove what Extra Kwazvose is,” said Chipanera.
