China’s multiple-span cable-stayed bridge to open

The Chishi Bridge is set to open to traffic at the end of October in central China’s Hunan Province.
Connecting Rucheng and Chenzhou, the bridge is renowned for its three back-to-back cable-stayed spans of 380 meters.

Its pillars, all of which climb more than 100 meters high, are also groundbreaking. One of the four pillars rises 182 meters above the valley below, and is said to be the highest used in any cable-stayed bridge in the world.
