HARARE – Organisers of Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz’s maiden concert in Zimbabwe, which will take place at the end of the month, are banking on the continental star’s popularity with women.

Diamond Platnumz, who collaborated with Jah Prayzah on the hit Watora Mari, will share the stage with the Jerusarema hit-maker, Killer T, Ex Q, Trevor Dongo, Stunner and Judgement Yard at the Glamis Arena on October 28 in a gig being organised by 2 Kings Entertainment.

“In addition to his many enormous hits, Diamond Platnumz appeals to women music fans. This will be a show for the ladies. Diamond Platnumz will share the stage with Zimbabwean musicians who have proved over the years that they are favourites of music fans,” said 2 Kings Entertainment spokesperson Dee Nosh.

He added that they are proud to be bringing to Zimbabwe a popular international artiste.

“Diamond Platnumz is one of the biggest artistes on the continent. He has collaborated with many top African stars who include Nigeria’s P Square. Diamond Platnumz’s duet with P-Square called Kidogo is currently on top of Trace Africa’s Top 30,” said Dee Nosh.

According to a recent report carried by Kenya’s Standard newspaper, Diamond Platnumz is one of East Africa’s highest-earning artistes worth an estimated $4 million. According to the newspaper, the Tanzanian music star gets his money through a variety of avenues.

“This includes his highest selling ringtones by various mobile phone companies to expensive concerts, tours and endorsements brand ambassadorial deals, royalties, endorsements from some of the world’s largest companies like Coca-cola, Vodacom, DStv and Red Gold,” read part of the story.

Diamond, who also owns Wasafi Records, is married to a wealthy businesswoman called Zarinah Hassan. The Tanzanian music star’s popularity has soared dramatically in Zimbabwe thanks to Watora Mari which has generated over 2 million views on YouTube.

Jah Prayzah and Diamond Platnumz’s duet took many by surprise as it came after the Kumbumura Mhute singer had been accused of plagiarising the concept of Diamond Platnumz’s Mdogo Mdogo for his Jerusarema video.
