Zimbabwean capital turns purple as flowers blossom.

It’s easier to locate Zimbabwe on a map, than to associate it with a symbol.

China has its Great Wall, Belgium is famous for chocolate, Kangaroos pop to mind when mentioning Australia and Egypt evokes regal Pharaohs sitting in their towering pyramids.

But, what about Zimbabwe?

These pictures taken by Chen Yaqin, a photographer from Xinhua News Agency, will give you something to remember the African country: Jacarandas.

The flowers line most of the streets in downtown Harare, and now that temperatures are rising, the Zimbabwean capital is turning purple.

The beautiful scenes of blossoming flowers attract local residents and tourists to stop and snap a few pictures. Some streets have been blanketed with falling flowers, giving couples a chance for a romantic stroll.

Zimbabwe lies in the southern hemisphere and its seasons are the reverse of those in the northern hemisphere. October is the hottest month in the country, with the highest temperature crossing 32 degrees Celsius.
