Soul Jah Love performs in wheelchair

Dancehall star, Soul Jah Love (real name Soul Musaka) will continue performing from a wheelchair, his manager Marshal Bimba has said.

The chanter shocked all and sundry in Harare at the weekend when he took to the Alex Sports Club stage in a wheelchair to perform at the Zark cigarette launch party.

The “Ndini Uya Uya” hit-maker who is suffering from diabetic foot ulcer had been admitted to Harare Hospital for over a week. Before that, he had been in and out of hospital.

Determined not to let his condition get to him, the artiste whose left leg was strapped with a bandage and right leg visibly swollen staged a fiery performance while stuck to his wheelchair.

According to reports, Soul Jah Love’s situation was worsened by an accident he was involved in recently that left him and some of his band members injured in Gweru.

Some health experts said if the popular artiste’s condition worsens, then his leg might get amputated.
Bimha said his artiste was stable adding that he had been battling diabetes from when he was seven years old.

He said Chibaba, as Soul Jah Love is affectionately known, had performed at the Zark party to prove to fans that he was down, but certainly not out.

“Chibaba decided to perform for his supportive fans. His condition has really improved and that’s why he’s out of hospital.

“A private doctor is seeing him. Up until he’s entirely fit, he’ll be performing for fans seated in a wheelchair so that he doesn’t strain himself,” Bimha said.

Showing that he has come to terms with his condition, Soul Jah Love has released a new song – Ava Chirema (he’s now crippled) describing his condition.

In the song, he states that even if his leg is amputated, it will not deter him from singing as all he needs to make magic is his voice.
