Harare’s Emily Tatanga Kachote has been crowned Miss World Zimbabwe 2015. The 1.73m beauty’s name first hit Zimbabwean households when she was Miss Harare in 2011.

She didn’t win the national crown back then, but this year she was back with a vengeance. Even as she walked the ramp during the pageant, the cheers for her were loud and enthusiastic.

On the Internet, during the question and answer session, Masimba Biriwasha comented of Kachote, “She is my Miss Zimbabwe but her response to be a brand Ambassador was unconvincing.”

Kachote was crowned 30 minutes after midnight on Sunday, April 26, 2015 and was saluted by members of the Zimbabwe National Army as she walked up to receive her crown from outgoing Miss Zimbabwe, Tendai Hunda.

Annie-Grace Mutambu was crowned 1st princess and Chengetai Kanonhuwa 2nd Princess at the end of a four and a half hour pageant that was screened live on ZTV. It was also livestreamed on the Internet, albeit via a service that allowed a maximum of 50 viewers at a time.

Anissa Ndiriwani took the Miss Talent title and Vanessa Mutemasango was named Miss Personality.

The pageant took place at Mermaid Pools in Shamva. A magnificent tent was set up and decorated splendidly.

Entertainment was provided by Trevor Dongo, Drum Café, Mudiwa Hood and, coming as a true  surprise to everyone, Leonard Karikoga Zhakata.
