Zimbabwe Gospel muso and icon, Mechanic Manyeruke says that he has never sat down to listen to his Dancehall star son’s music.
Guspy Warrior, whose real name is Emmanuel Manyeruke, is one of the big names in the Zimdancehall.
With a successful career now spanning three years plus, Guspy claims that he has no regrets being a dancehall musician despite the fact that his choice of genre maybe frowned upon by prudes who feel that the lyrics which range from s-exually suggestive themes to drugs abuse are not in tandem with his family’s deeply religious background.
His father, Mechanic, renowned for his biblical lyrics and artistic serenity,has admitted that, despite all the rumpus his son has caused on the dancehall scene, he has not yet found the ‘courage’ to listen Guspy’s “crazy” lyrics.
“I am yet to sit down and listen to any single album except what I come across on television,” said Manyeruke in a documentary screened in Harare recently courtesy of the International Images Film Festival. New Zimbabwe
