India pledges US$10bn for Africa's development

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a made pledge of more than US$10 billion for Africa's development in soft loans and grants.

Prime Minister Modi made the pledge at the official opening of the 3rd India Africa Forum Summit currently taking place in New Delhi, India.

The leader of 1.3 billion people said a vibrant India and resurgent Africa with ancient civilizations and a young energetic population hold the sway for the future. 

Mr Modi said the fact that India and Africa are not represented in the UN Security Council makes the world body undemocratic and unrepresentative.
