Koffi Olomide set for Harare Carnival Night

Famed rhumba musician Koffi Olomide is heading to Zimbabwe for the Carnival Rhumba Night to be held next week Thursday at Long Cheng Plaza.

Organisers of the Harare International Carnival, the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA), yesterday said rhumba lovers must brace themselves for a thrilling night with the France-based musician and a host of local rhumba outfits. 

  "We cannot talk of rhumba music without mentioning Koffi. He will be supported by local rhumba musicians such as BV Labien and Diamond Musica among others," said ZTA spokesperson Sugar Chagonda said.

The show is being supported by the DRC ministry of Tourism in partnership with ZTA. The Congolose rhumba maestro, known for his raunchy dances, last visited Zimbabwe during President Robert Mugabe daughter Bona's wedding.

With hits such as Effrakata, Loi, V12, and Abracada-bra under his belt, rhumba lovers are assured of some music and dance never seen on stage before.

The Paris-based music mogul and four-time Kora award winner, including continental awards, boasts of 30 years of experience in music.
