LONDON – Controversial dancehall musician Soul Jah Love is at the centre of a double-booking storm after accepting a deposit from a UK promoter for a show set for this weekend, knowing fully well he was booked in South Africa.

Speaking to Nehanda Radio, Kudzai Chipadza from Dream Team Entertainment said they had spent over £1300 on the deposit and processing a priority visa for Soul Jah Love who was meant to perform alongside Tocky Vibes.

Confronted over the double-booking Soul Jah Love is alleged to have told the promoter “Fuck off, handinyengerere kuuya ku UK – I don’t need to beg you to come to the UK.”

Promoters have since roped in Ricky Fire to perform alongside Tocky Vibes in Dunstable and Manchester this weekend.

Its not the first time Soul Jah Love has found himself in such a situation. He spent a night in police cells in Mutare after Zanu PF politician and music promoter Isau Mupfumi got him arrested for fraud. The singer collected $750 but failed to turn up.

The Ndini uya uya hitmaker was paid an initial deposit of $750 by Mupfumi and was scheduled to perform at Pick and Save on February 7 before he would receive the balance of $750 after performing.

He failed to appear on stage after he allegedly took one too many and returned to Harare. On the night he failed to perform at Pick and Save, the musician is said to have soiled himself while in a drunken stupor in Mutare.

On several occasions the singer has got himself double-booked, to the fury of many promoters, some of whom have vowed never to deal with him again.

n May this year the singer ran amok in Mutare chasing fans with a golf club after he had been hired to perform at a Zanu PF rally.

According to reports the excited fans were jostling to have photos taken with the musician after his arrival for a show at Beit Hall in Dangamvura. Soul Jah Love suddenly became furious, wielded a golf club and charged towards fans and photographers.
