SHOCKING TWIST TO KILLER T SAGA

Killer T
THE family of dancehall sensation Killer T’s girlfriend, Mitchell Kambanga, is still in shock following her tragic death in a horror crash last week, NewsDay has established.

Sources familiar with the goings-on yesterday said a rival suitor (name supplied) who also had his eye on Mimi– as Mitchell was popularly known in Mufakose – engaged in a high-speed car chase with the couple, leading to the fatal accident.

The Kambanga family is still soul-searching and there are more questions than answers as Mimi did not have a driver’s licence and on the day in question, they had left her home as she was not feeling well.

Contrary to earlier reports that police officers accompanied Killer T to break the sad news to Mimi’s family in the wake of the accident, the mother reportedly said they received a phone call from the police informing them of their daughter’s death.

“Mimi is alleged to have complained to her mother that she was not feeling well and she was at home, only for the family to receive a call from the police about the sad news,” said the source.

Sources, however, said in separate interviews that Killer T and Mimi were spotted in a Toyota Chaser that belonged to the latter’s father.

Mimi’s former boyfriend –identified only as Jah Rule – reportedly pursued the couple after receiving a signal in the company of well-known bouncers in Mufakose, one of whom was identified only as Vincent.

“Mimi was driving the car and after sensing danger upon recognising the car that Jah Rule and his friends were in,she started to speed and there was the chase that resulted in that horrific crash,” said an insider.

He said Killer T and Mimi were in the same car and the former’s escape was “miraculous”.

“Killer T could also have been killed in that crash. It is only that he dropped off on the traffic lights sensing danger and he took to his feet,” he said.

“The family is actually shocked about how things happened on the day that saw Mimi ending up going out driving the car as they were not aware that she could drive.”

From the information gathered by NewsDay, it appeared as if Mimi was constantly on the move as friends started dropping off her clothes at her parents’ home in the wake of her death.

Some of her friends said she had hinted to them that she was living in fear of Killer T, whom they alleged had assigned someone to monitor her movements in the neighbourhood.

“When we used to hang around with Mimi, she would tell us that she was under surveillance as there were people assigned by Killer T to monitor her movements in the hood,” said one of the friends.

“Mimi was living in fear of Killer T. She was still young and exploring, so she would hang around with both boys and girls which Killer T did not like, that’s the reason he had some of his friends monitoring Mimi’s movements.”

The two are said to have met at a gig where Killer T was performing and they hit it off.

“In fact, Killer T actually composed a song for Mimi,” said another friend. “On several occasions, Mimi would show us her pictures with Killer T enjoying themselves at different hideouts.”

Another insider said the grieving family was still in the dark concerning the circumstances surrounding their daughter’s death.

“The family is troubled as they are trying to find answers to what transpired leading to the death of Mimi,” he said.

“They are not even aware who was with Mimi and where she was going when she left.”

Killer T, born Kelvin Kusikwenyu, has reportedly disowned Mimi, passing her off as just “a fan” and avid follower of his music.
