HARARE – Internationally-acclaimed Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi will celebrate four decades in music at his Pakare Paye Arts Centre in Norton tomorrow.
Tuku will be supported by several musicians who include Jah Prayzah, Suluman Chimbetu, Munya Mataruse, Donald Kanyuchi, Diva Mafunga, Chiedza Chevatendi and South African music star Ringo Madlingozi.
The Bvuma hit-maker began his music career in 1975 and two years later he joined the Wagon Wheels, a band that also featured chimurenga music maestro Thomas Mapfumo.
Tuku later left the Wagon Wheels to pursue a solo career that has seen him produce over 62 internationally-acclaimed music albums over a period of four decades.
Popularly known by his Nzou Samanyanga totem, Tuku incorporates elements of different musical traditions and cultures to produce a distinct music sound.
Thanks to his international appeal, the Todii singer, who has just returned from the United Kingdom and Australia, has toured many countries in various parts of the world
