Marcus Rashford |
Marcus scored two goals against Midtjylland amounted to a fine start for Marcus Rashford but to repeat the feat against opponents of significantly greater stature marked the teenager out as something special here at Old Trafford.
This is some story; some footballer too; an 18-year-old forward who displays the poise and predatory instincts of a young Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer but appears to boast two good feet and proper pace as well.
Long before his two goals he split two Arsenal defenders with a terrific burst of speed and that athleticism when allied with an apparent knack for arriving in the right place at the right time makes him some prospect.
In his path records seem to tumble as easily as defenders, with the not so small matter of Arsenal’s title campaign also taking something of a battering in this stunning clash at Old Trafford.
One only has to look at him to appreciate why it was as recently as last autumn that Rashford made his debut for Manchester United’s Under 21s.
He still has the adolescent leanness of a teenager after all; a footballer with a fair bit of filling out left to do. But as Arsenal’s defenders discovered to their cost, imposing yourself physically on that slight frame can only happen if you catch him first. The teenager is a revelation for Man United.
