Gifted chanter Jonas Kasamba who recently made an emotional return to Orchestra Mberikwazvo, the band that gave him fame has called on the highly followed sungura outfit’s followers to forgive him for deserting the ship at a time when his boss Alick Macheso needed him most.

The affable chanter whose presence could be felt during the time he was trying his luck with Extra Kwazvose said it felt good to be back and he would  give his all but above all the Mberikwazvo loyals must forgive him.

Kasamba made the calls during the weekend shows held at Warren Park 1 shops, Ruwa and Zebra Village on Friday, Saturday and Sunday respectively.

“Ndadzoka manje kumusha. Ndadzoka padhuze naAmbassador asi chikumbiro maboss ndoda kuti mundiregererewo pane zvandakaita (I am now back home. I am now working closely with Ambassador Macheso but I want to call on all band supporters to forgive me). Ndiregerereiwo maboss. East West home is best,” said Kasamba with his Congolese accent standing out.

Kasamba’s call was supported by his forgiving boss Alick Macheso who is also the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society’s Humanitarian Ambassador.

“Adzoka Joe Kasamba uyu. Wakaita nhendeu akati regai ndidzoke makanyi. Saka taingaita sei? Vanaka saka tinovagashira. Takati misuwo yakazaruka saka vanoda kudzoka munodzoka zvenyu. (Joe is now back. He realised his msitakes and there is nothing we can do about the past save to take him back. We have an open door policy,” Macheso said to applause from the crowds that came to his shows.

The fiery bassist whose latest album Tsoka Dzerwendo hits the market on Monday 21 March however reiterated that no present members of Orchestra Mberikwazvo will be sacrificed for those returning but they will work as a unit.

Macheso’s latest production promises to be a blockbuster hit and the reviews from those that have had the opportunity to listen to it point to a masterpiece. The Sungura King always take his time in the studio but he rarely disappoints his legion of fans.

Macheso also pledged a free studio recording contract to fellow musician and Ngwenya Brothers frontman Tedius Matsito who lost his leg in an unfortunate accident. Matsito attended the Warren Park show where he played for 2o minutes churning crowd favourites likeGede.
