HARARE CITY midfield Ronald ‘Rooney’Chitiyo was arrested for assaulting his pregnant lover after she confronted him demanding money for maternity fees. Chitiyo was arrested at Dombo Police Station in Epworth after his lover Eneresi Alfasi lodged a complaint against him.
Eneresi is believed to be five months pregnant.
The former Dynamos FC player,was taken to Harare magistrates’ court yesterday morning facing physical abuse charges. Chitiyo was however,spared prosecution after Eneresi withdrew the charges.
Unconfirmed reports are that Eneresi was lured into withdrawing the case after Chitiyo promised to pay lobola to her parents.
“Chitiyo attacked ex-lover after she confronted him demanding maternity fees.She also demanded money for buying ‘preparation’for their unborn child. “They met along Batanai Road in Overspill Epworth whilst Eneresi was walking home from Solani Shops.She then entered into Rooney’s car where they chatted for some minutes.
“Rooney then pushed Eneresi out of the car saying he was not responsible for the pregnancy.
“That forced Eneresi to pick a stone and hit his car. “That did not go down well with Rooney who then attacked Eneresi. “She went to the police leading to Chitiyo’s arrest.
“But the matter was withdrawn when they went to court.I heard that Chitiyo promised to pay lobola for her,”said a source close to the parties.
