THE case in which CAPS united skipper, Method Mwanjali, is accused of attempted murder was Wednesday further postponed to May 10 pending trial date determination.
Prosecutor, Sheilla Mhuru, told the court that the state intends to determine if the complainant, Tonderai Nhunzvi, was fit to stand the trial.
Mwanjali allegedly stabbed Nhunzvi who had an altercation with his friend and team’s midfielder Obert Gutu over bad driving twice in the stomach.
Nhunzvi was reportedly in a critical condition and on life support when Mwanjali first appeared in court a couple of weeks back.
The unfortunate incident occurred around 4 am at Long Chen plaza last month. It followed a brawl after Gutu’s car almost collided with Nhunzvi’s outside One plus One night club at the famous mall.
Initial reports, however, said the incident followed a nightclub brawl over a woman.
Court heard the altercation ended up with Mwanajli stabbing Nhunzvi in the belly twice while Gutu smashed their victim’s car, badly damaging it in the process.
Nhunzvi then reported the case that same morning around 5:30 am after Mwanjali and Gutu had fled to an unknown destination in fear of mob justice.
A police officer told court that Mwanjali and Gutu reported at Milton Park police station around 8: 30 am the same day claiming that their vehicles had been deflated.
Gutu and Mwanjali are being separately charged. Mwanajli is facing attempted murder while Gutu is on malicious damage to property charges.
