Power FM DJs make history by broadcasting for 30 hours non stop

Three Power FM DJs have made it to the African Book of Records after broadcasting for 30 hours non-stop.

The broadcasting initiative meant for charity started on Wednesday morning and ran into Thursday.

ZBC’s Power FM DJs, Butterfly, Skwila and Scott, who began live radio broadcasting on Wednesday morning at 6am only to end at 10am this Thursday after a historic 30-hour non-stop airing have earned themselves a record.

Book of African Records Editor Kudzanai Thondhlana said the trio have achieved a historic feat that needs documentation.

"This is a historic broadcast which has found its way in the African Book of Records," said Thondlana.

It is a cap earned for a worthy cause and Power FM Chief Producer Tendai Chakanyuka says the station owes it to the commitment of the three DJs, support from fellow workmates and the generosity of Zimbabweans.

"We are happy not only as Power FM, but as ZBC with what we have achieved today," Chakanyuka said. Initially aimed to run for 27 hours non-stop, the broadcasting charity initiative eventually ended at 30 hours with several donations received.

These will be distributed to identified communities for the less privileged.
