Apostolic leader resurrects from the dead

A leader of an Apostolic sect certified dead by church elders is said to be alive leaving them in a quandary as they await his return from a ‘spiritual’ war.

Baba Mudzengi leader of the madzibaba wechishanu wenguwotsvuku of Zezani village in Beitbridge was pronounced dead and his body taken to his home in Rusape for burial.

However, when they get to Rusape they found his mother who cancelled burial arrangements. She told them that her son was not dead and so ordered them to put his body in one of the bedrooms. 

They then camped at the homestead for four days. On the last day, they woke up to the shock of their lives as they were told that Baba Mudzengi had risen

A church member who went to Rusape spoke to B-Metro. “We got news that our church leader baba Mudzengi had died after complaining of a headache. Money was collected from congregates to ferry the body for burial at his homestead,” he said.

He revealed that the deceased’s body was never taken to hospital, but they relied on the elder’s diagnosis.

“When we got to his home in Rusape, we were shocked because there were no people gathered to show that they had received the sad news,” he added.

The source added that the church leader’s mother told them of a vision she had. “She told us about a revelation that her son was not dead. She explained his ‘death’ as a way of madzibaba receiving more supernatural powers,” he added.

Stranger than fiction, he rose and they witnessed it. “It became difficult for people to just leave the body and return to their homes. Therefore, we stayed at the homestead and on the fourth day indeed baba Mudzengi rose from the dead,” added the church elder.

One of the church elders’ Baba Shava officially confirmed the development.

“I don’t know what to say because we had concluded that our elder baba Mudzengi had died. However, it turned out he was going through a certain phase in life and his mother later corrected us,” said Shava.

The faithful followers await his return to Beitbridge. “He has not yet returned and we were told to he had to go for prayers and fasting for some time,” Shava said.
