Jennifer Lawrence |
Once again, Lawrence has topped Forbes’ list of the world’s highest-paid actresses, earning $46 million before taxes over 12 months.
Lawrence’s total is actually down from last year, when she banked $52 million before taxes, but thanks to the final Hunger Games movie, Mockingjay – Part 2, as well as a payday for her upcoming sci-fi blockbuster Passengers, Lawrence still came out on top.
Meanwhile, second place went to Melissa McCarthy with $33 million, and Forbes reports that the comedian earned an estimated eight-figure fee to star in the Ghostbusters reboot. Last year’s second-place actress, Scarlett Johansson, slipped to third with $25 million.
Forbes’ list also includes stars from around the world, including Chinese actress Fan Bingbing, who scored fifth place with $17 million. (In addition to her Chinese hits like Lady of the Dynasty, she’s known stateside for her role in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.)
This year’s only newcomer was Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who scored 10th place with $10 million. In all, these 10 women banked a combined $205 million before taxes between June 1, 2015, and June 1, 2016.
Forbes’ list of the highest-paid actors will be published Thursday, but the magazine revealed that the actors on the list earned considerably more than their female counterparts.
Only four women earned more than $20 million — Lawrence, McCarthy, Johansson, and Jennifer Aniston — while 18 actors each hit that same benchmark.
