The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) vetting panel was left in shock on Wednesday after senior officers requested to be vetted in Swahili instead of English.
Senior Sergeants Aggrey Osore and Betty Rotich pleaded with the vetting panel to vet them in Swahili, citing difficulties in expressing themselves in English.
Their request sparked laughter in the vetting hall with the members of the panel finding it hard to comprehend why such senior officers could not understand English.
The panel however was forced to conduct the session in Swahili after it became clear that the officers indeed had difficulty expressing themselves in the language. Rotich for instance baffled the panel as she could not express herself in English even after serving for thirty years in the police service.
