Manchester United's £27million defender Luke Shaw could miss the rest of the season after suffering what appeared to be a horrific-looking broken leg in Eindhoven on Tuesday night.
United's Champions League tie in Holland was held up for nine minutes as Shaw was given oxygen treated by nine different medical staff following a rash challenge by Hector Moreno that snapped his right leg just below the knee and left it hanging in the wrong direction towards his shin.
Concerned manager Louis van Gaal comforted his stricken 20-year-old defender as he was finally wheeled away on a trolley to generous and sympathetic applause from all four corners of the ground.
