Celebrated drummer Obert Gomba who made his name with the revered Alick Macheso's Ochestra Mberikwazvo has retraced his steps to the all-conquering outfit which gave him fame and fortune.
Gomba who ditched Ochestra Mberikwazvo to form Orchestra Kwazvose with his erstwhile comrades Jonas Kasamba, Noel Nyazanda and Francis “Franco” Slomo Dhaka rejoined his former paymaster in late 2015 as the sungura kingpin sought to give impetus to his soon to be released album Tsoka DzeRwendo.
The recent development which was confirmed by Macheso’s Manager Lucky Macheso should be a big plus for the Macheso camp which for a long time relied on the loyal and energetic Givemore Chokumanyara.
“Obert is back and we have been working with him for over a month now. We roped him in during the album recording and realising that he is keen to work with the band we saw it fit to take him on board and he is alternating with Givemore Chokumanyara. We are a big brand and believe in building bridges so our fans must expect a bigger and better 2016.”
Macheso who could not be drawn into revealing the exact dates for the much awaited album told Zimrealnews that he was confident of a great year for the Orchestra Mberikwazvo outfit and their loyal fans.
“Mberikwazvo is all about music and while we understand our fans’ disappointments over the delayed release of the album, they must know that we are here to serve them and we will do our best to satisfy their ears.
There is certainly no way we can exist without producing music becase that’s what defines our existence. What we have in store for them will certainly appease whatever disappointments they have and from there on it will be a whole new ball game”.
Macheso also revealed that they will soon be staging live shows following the January break which has been useful in re-oiling their machine and finalising production of the new album. Zimrealnews
