Unity enhances growth : Suluman Chimbetu

Sulu and Jah Prayzah
DENDERA musician giant Suluman Chimbetu believes unity is important among artistes as it enhances the growth of local showbiz.

Sulu was speaking to H-Metro explaining the concept behind his joint show with Jah Prayzah to be held at Private Lounge on February 25,running under the banner ‘Friend Forever Concert’.

The lyricist, speaking through his publicist Joe Local Nyamungoma, said artistes should focus much on positive things rather than plotting each other’s downfall.

“As a brand,we believe in unity and that can only be achieved by creating a mutual relationship with fellow artistes.

“That is the concept we are trying to push/show with this joint concert (with Jah Prayzah) on February 25 at Private Lounge,” said Local.

“We believe it is good for the industy to have positive stories in the media That gives stakeholders the faith to work with us as musicians.

“The more our industry grow, the higher chances of several artistes make it beyond borders.Noone wants to be associated with mediocre and we can only improve through unity.” he said.

Rift among artistes ha sbeen topical in Zimbabwe showbiz, particularly Zim dancehall resulting in some of the artistes failing to perform after being stoned by fans.

Rising chanter Maggikal is the latest causality after fans denied him an opportunity to perform at the Soul Jah Love album launch fallowing a Seh Calaz diss.

“We hear a lot of issues in the industry, issues of artistes fighting, denied to perform and that is what we are trying to denounce with this show”.

Sulu, who released three singles toward end of last year, however expresses satisfaction with the response to the new music.

The singles include Macamaradha, Zororo and Open Your Heart which he promises to put emphasis on during his performance at Private Lounge. The last track features Angolan songstress Lisa Viola,an effort aimed at building a profile beyond borders.
