JAMAICAN reggae singer Christopher Martin mania has gripped the local showbiz circuit, following confirmation by the artiste, recently of his maiden Zimbabwean concert dubbed Together As One Live Concert set for April 29 at Glamis Arena, Harare.
In a 38-minute video clip, Martin said he was excited to be coming to Zimbabwe and perform for his fans in the country.
“Now check it out. It is Christopher Martin and it is all about Zimbabwe, Harare. April 29 comes alive with Christopher Martin and my live band, Jam Dance, will be in Harare and it’s all about Together As One concert at the Glamis Arena Showgrounds. Make a date and don’t be late,” he said.
Posters of the concert have been splashed all over Harare, with the artiste set to jet in on April 27.
At the potentially explosive gig, the Cheaters Prayer hit-maker will be supported by Jah Prayzah, dancehall stars Winky D and Lipsy, courtesy of Red Rose Events, 2 Kings Promotions and Jacaranda Promotions.
One of the concert organisers Barbra Chikosi, popularly known as Mama Red Rose, said the Jamaican musician will travel alongside Damian Godlin (D-Major) whom he is grooming.
“There will be entertainment galore at the Together As One Live Concert as we have organised a sound clash featuring popular sounds in Zimbabwe among them Silverstone, Stone Love, Fyah Links, Legendary, Mighty Ducks, Stan Splash, Bodyslam, Digital One and Majestic 3 before the main show headlined by Chris Martin alongside his protégé D-Major,” Chikosi said.
She said tickets for the show will go on sale in the second week of April at $15 (pre-show), $20 at the gate and $25 for the VIP enclosure.
Chikosi, who has in the past brought into the country top Jamaican acts among them Capleton and Turbulence, said there will be another surprise act at the concert.
Meanwhile, the Martin frenzy has also gripped his fans on social media, given the threads of anticipation running under the hashtag #TogetherAsOneConcert.
Martin has performed at several shows across Jamaica, and set a precedent for newcomers when he was invited to perform at One Night gig with Michael Bolton’ and at the 2008 Air Jamaica Jazz Festival.
In 2008, he was nominated for numerous awards including The Jamaica Observer Teenage Choice Awards and Excellence in Music and Entertainment, an achievement which has secured permanence in his art .
