Chiyangwa considering ZIFA Presidency

Philip Chiyangwa
PROPERTY mogul Phillip Chiyangwa yesterday said he was still weighing his options after several people approached and urged him to stand for the Zifa presidency to replace Cuthbert Dube, who was booted out of office last Saturday over allegations of maladministration.

Chiyangwa said he would announce his decision over the issue in the next few days.

“You don’t need to plunge into things without calculating. At the moment, I’m consulting across the board. Yes, I have been approached by quite a number of people, but I need to consult wide and far,” he said.

Chiyangwa said music and football were close to his heart.Other names that have already been thrown around for the soccer governing body’s top post include Premier Soccer League chairman Twine Phiri, Trevor David Juul, who lost to Dube in the last election, Dube’s vice-president Omega Sibanda and veteran journalist Charles Mabika.

The elections to fill the vacant hot seat have been scheduled for December 5.
