This is the first picture of a tragic Zimbabwean teenager stabbed to death in a London park after attending a friend’s 16th birthday party. The victim has been named locally as 16-year-old Munashe Charles Kutyauripo by devastated friends.
The business student is believed to have attended the party at a social club at Ashton Playing Fields in Woodford, east London, when a confrontation began outside between him and four male youths.
The Metropolitan Police said: “One of the males then stabbed the victim before all four made off on foot towards Chigwell Road.”
Other guests at the party came to help the boy before police and paramedics arrived, but he was later pronounced dead at hospital, the Met said.
The attack is believed to be the first knife death in the capital this year, taking place at at about 9.40pm on Saturday.
The victim was taken by ambulance to Whipps Cross Hospital, but was pronounced dead at 10.45pm.
Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating under Detective Chief Inspector Ken Hughes.
DCI Hughes said: “There were around 100 young people at this party and we are appealing for anyone with information or any witnesses to come forward as soon as possible.
“The victim’s family are naturally devastated and in shock by what has happened and we need the help of those at the party that night to progress our investigation.”
