Sungura Ace Alick Macheso
Firebrand sungura musician and fiery bassist Alick Macheso has released the official date for his album release. In an exclusive interview with Zimrealnews, Macheso’s manager and uncle Lucky Macheso said they could no longer keep their loyal fans waiting.

“It took us long working on the album because we wanted to produce a quality project. However, I am happy to inform Zimbabwe and the world that the date for the release of our new album Tsokaa Dzerwendo is 21 March which will be a Monday.

Come what may, the album is coming and fans must brace for the best from Orchestra Mberikwaazvo,” Macheso said.

Macheso’s sentiments were echoed by the sungura giant’s publicist Tich Makahamadze who revealed that they had done their groundwork and the album will be hitting the streets come March 21. Makahamadze also highlighted that they had a sound distribution plan for the new album.

“I know a number of dates have been thrown around and some were beginning to doubt our capacity and authenticity but Orchestra Mberikwazvo delivers when it matters most. We are giving our fans an Easter present and we have no doubt they will enjoy. The good times are back and takuisa sungura mudenga denga chaimo,” Makahamadze said with a chuckle.

Macheso’s new management seems to have their act together and have of late been making sound decisions that have helped steer the Orchestra Mberikwazvo ship. Other notable decisions include the return of talented drummer Obert Gomba and the much loved chanter Jonas Kasamba with reports indicating that lead guitarist Noel Nyazanda is also on his way back.

Makahamadze also exclusively sintimated with Zimrealnews that they will share more information about the new album at a soon to be convened Press Conference where Macheso will share the good news with the rest of the world.

“We are through with all the preparations and we are happy to be honouring our loyal fans with this new baby, Tsoka Dzerwendo. Sungura is unique genre and for some time one could feel the gap but we are back with a bang and Zimbabwe and the world will be taken by storm.  A press conference will be convened where Ambassador Macheso will give more details,” he said.

Most of the songs on the new album have become crowd favourites at live shows. These include among others Kurarama Inyasha, Munyaradzi, Amai and Gungwa to name a few. Macheso is a gifted composer and most of the songs on the new album are laden with great messages for the nation.
