A MASVINGO man fondled his 15-year-old daughter’s breast as a way of punishing the teenager for stealing his 50 cents bond coins, a local court heard Tuesday.
The father, 43, (name withheld for legal reasons) pleaded guilty to indecent assault when he appeared before Masvingo magistrate, Langton Ndokera.
He was sentenced to 3 months in prison but can avoid jail time if he pays a $300 fine by the end of March this year.
The man pleaded with the court for leniency, saying he acted out of anger.
Prosecutor Joshua Mudondo told the court that on 27 February this year, and at around 3 pm, the teenager returned home from church and found his father alone at home.
Court heard that her father started accusing the girl of stealing his 50c coin that he left in his trousers when he took an afternoon nap.
The teenager denied the allegations and she took 50c from the church funds which she had been given for safe keeping by the church elders and gave it to his father.
The father then went to relieve himself in the toilet and, when he was coming out, met his daughter in the corridor and dragged her into his bedroom.
Court was told that he told his daughter that he was going to wrench off her breast since they were making “her pompous”. He went on to fondle his daughter’s breast using his right hand whilst his left hand was grabbing the teenager’s neck.
The girl’s mother later came home from church where she found the girl crying and upon being quizzed she narrated her ordeal. A police report was made leading to the arrest of the father.
