Mapfumo |
URBAN grooves singer Leonard Mapfumo is set to rekindle his long lost glory if his forthcoming 10-track album that is due for release this month is anything to go by.
Mapfumo, who has only been headlining a number of shows with fellow musicians Roki, Trevor D, Tererai over the years, had his last studio album in 2010.
The singer, who found fame with his hit song Seiko featuring Roki and Maidei which topped charts for an unbroken 42 weeks, told fans in a post that he is working on a new album.
“All day, every day working on that new album, spent the whole weekend at the Shabback Studios with Spirit Fingaz and Nyasha David,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
His new offering has also incorporated stars like Taurai Mandebvu, Tererai and others.
“I have been working on the song We All Fall featuring Tererai Mugwadi, loving this track #naMapfumo.
“I also worked with Taurai Mandebvu on the song Huwi and still recording with more artistes. “This album has been made particularly for my fans who have been requesting for it since I had resorted to doing singles and shows only,” he said.
A snippet of Iti Huwi has already gone past 500 views on Mapfumo’s Facebook timeline. He said all is set for his album release soon.
“I know it’s been a long time and have been under the radar for a bit but I am now back like I never left.
“I am releasing my new album anytime from now and still working on the title which I think I will be done with soon, this is going to be big year for me,” he said.
The four times number one hit maker has belted three albums to date, his first was a collaboration with Roki in 2005, then his solo project titled NaMapfumo in 2007 and his last was The Journey in 2010.
