Gospel music star Charles Charamba says The Fishers of Men will release new videos before the end of the year. Charamba, in the company of his equally-celebrated wife Olivia, gave the undertaking on the sidelines of his band’s performance at the Harare International Food and Music Festival (HIFM) held at Borrowdale Racecourse last weekend.

“This year I am not sure if we will manage to release a new album but we will release videos that we are currently working on.

“Fans are putting us under extreme pressure as they want more videos from us and as a result we will give them what they want,” said Charamba, who also runs Borrowdale-based Pashoko Pangoma Studios.

The Charambas shared the stage with fellow gospel music stars who included Sebastian Magacha and Michael Mahendere at the gospel show that took place on Saturday afternoon.

Despite the low turnout, the gospel artistes gave polished acts.

The Charambas performed popular hits gleaned from the albums Tinashe Akatendeka, John 3:16, Vhuserere, Exodus, Sunday Service, Verses and Chapters and Pashoko Pangoma, Amen, Daily Bread and The Gospel.

The most popular songs during their performance included Ndirangarirei, Machira Chete, Rudo Rwevanhu, Rute and Moyo Wangu.

The event was graced by National Arts Council of Zimbabwe director Elvas Mari who lauded musicians and organisations that participated in the inaugural HIFM.

The two-day event was organised by Jacaranda Culture and Media Corporation with the aim of promoting cultural exchange through the power of food and music.

In keeping with the thrust of the event, various organisations showcased Chinese and local cuisine.
