His lawyer said the authority to prosecute for insulting President must be granted by the Prosecutor General. The signature and stamp on Prosecution letter are not of the Prosecutor General. He said this authority cannot be delegated.
The State said it was surprised by the defence application since they did not object when the letter was initially tendered.
The Prosecutor said the letter was valid as the “law does not specifically say the individual of the PG, but from his office.”
The magistrate said he will make a ruling on Monday after carefully looking at the points raised. Outside court there were no crowds.
