Lumumba Lumumba pens letter from Prison

HONESTLY, I do NOT know what will happen TODAY in court, maybe my life will never be the same again, this morning I will go before our courts to defend myself against a charge under Section 33(2)(B) of "Undermining the authority of the President". MY WORLD hasn't been the same since June 30.

I have spent time in Remand Prison with SOME of the WORST criminals waiting for judgement, from those whose fate would be decided in days to many who have been waiting OVER 5 years for a judgement.

I was locked up with Former MDC Youth SG Promise Mukwananzi and as YOUNG politicians we where PAINED by the justice system and how it needed reform, in a prison of OVER 3 000 there where LESS than 20 functioning toilets and showers, LICE FESTERED blankets, but worst of all was the UNDERTRAINED prison staff who where NOT able to perform the CORRECTIONAL function of rehabilitating the prisoners.

184 ACTIVISTS from Epworth and Mabvuku where also in prison, some as young as 18 with NO criminal history but now sleeping next to rapists and murders and in the absence of a correctional system, prison becomes a place where criminals become WORSE criminals.

My POINT is, WE have a lot of work to do, OUR justice system needs work, and whatever happens to me today, to EVERY young person who loves Zimbabwe, there is NO ONE coming to save US, so buckle up, this country can only be changed by YOU, Ive never wanted you to believe in me, I have always prayed that YOU BELIEVE in YOURSELF, YOU are the ANSWER.

Until next time friends. Keep your heads up. GOD is with US. TeamVIVA will keep you updated on fb and twitter or our app hotline +263731495724
