Internationally acclaimed Zimbabwean comedian, Carl Joshua Ncube recently made a successful attempt in breaking the world record of the longest stretch of performances before paying audiences in a week’s time by staging a total of 31 shows, beating the previous record by Australia’s Mark Murphy of a total of 30.

Ncube’s shows were held between August 17 and 23 in South Africa, Harare, Kadoma, Gweru, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls crushing Murphy’s long term record which he held for a decade since 2007.

Ncube and his team are currently amassing evidence that they may use to submit to the Guinness Book of World Records.

“I know that I broke a world record, you know that I broke a world record. Now we have to compile all this evidence to convince GUINESS WORLD RECORDS that I broke a world record,’ Ncube posted on his official Facebook page on Wednesday.

He added that; “Whatever the OUTCOME….Zimbabwe won and has BRAGGING RIGHTS.” He also admitted that it quite tiring to achieve especially when he had to perform nine gigs all in one day.

However the regulations require Ncube’s shows to be made up of comedy acts over 30 minutes long each before a paying audience in a recognised venue that normally stages comedy nights with a capacity for seated audience and tickets had to be advertised and available for sale to the public through the usual outlets and the concerts should be accessible to members of the press.

While this is being done Ncube yesterday added that he was on his way to Uganda in a whatsapp conversation. He said he would be performing with a team of top African comedians at the Africa Laughs, season 3 event on Friday evening.

“This event will also feature top African comedians like Anne Kansiime(Uganda), Eric Omodi(Kenya), Bovi (Nigeria), Ndumiso Lindi (South Africa), Arthur Nkusi (Rwanda), Eric Omondi(Kenya) and Eddie Kadi(DRC).

Ncube who has also been described by CNN African Voices as the “New face of Zimbabwean Comedy” broke into the Zimbabwean comedy scene with his debut one-man show Carl Joshua Ncube’s BIG ANNOUNCEMENT catapulting him up amongst Zimbabwe’s best comedians.

He made his COMEDY DEBUT on the  ensemble cast of BEST OF AFRICA at the Comedy Central International Comedy Festival and has to date performed in several countries across the globe including South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Namibia, Malawi, Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and the United States.
