Mugabe finally speaks on Moyo scandal

President Mugabe says Higher Education Minister, Prof Jonathan Moyo is not being protected as anyone who has committed a crime must be brought before the courts.

“We don’t protect those who commit crimes.  If someone has committed a crime, they have committed a crime.  We don’t protect them.  However, we don’t like a situation where the innocent are falsely accused of wrongdoing.

“We want such issues to be exposed and suspects defend themselves in court.  If they have lawyers they defend them.  We don’t want our people to rely on media reports.  That this one must be arrested, this one must be fired.

The party does not operate like that.  Allegations must be properly investigated and suspects taken to court.  If anyone stole money, let it come out in the open.

It must be clear how the corruption was done and the culprits are punished accordingly, even if it means they go to jail,” he said when he officially opened Murongwe Primary School and clinic that were built by the Air Force of Zimbabwe in Dande,

President Mugabe said Zanu-PF was united and people should not listen to media reports alleging that there were divisions in the party.

“Don’t rely on rumours,” said the President. “The party is united.  Yes there can be internal disagreements but it doesn’t mean that the party has collapsed.
