The woman alleged to have been raped by Prophetic, Healing and Deliverance church leader Walter Magaya has filed a withdrawal affidavit narrating how she is receiving death threats from unknown people who are allegedly threatening her in the event she fails to get the man of cloth convicted.
She claimed to have been receiving the threats for the past four months thus her intention to withdraw the case as she fears there are ulterior forces who are behind the matter.
Part of the affidavit reads: “I am living in fear and I don’t want to keep on living under threatening conditions. I have received threats from people who are threatening to shoot me in the event I don’t testify well against the accused for him to be convicted or if by any chance I decide to withdraw. I have come to the conclusion that this case is now beyond me,”
However, the withdrawal affidavit was not placed on the record as it was unprocedurally tendered to Harare magistrate Mr Vakai Chikwekwe although the investigating officer confirmed that the complainant had indeed approached the police intending to withdraw the case.
