News anchor Rumbi Takawira who was sacked by ZBC is suddenly back on the screens.
Takawira affectionately known as NewsBae was fired recently in terms of the Supreme Court ruling allowing employers to terminate employees’ contracts on three months’ notice.
Takawira was on air on Thursday evening during the broadcaster’s news slot, News Hour, a day after President Robert Mugabe had signed the Labour Amendment Bill into law.
Takawira’s return is still unexplained as ZBC has not issued a statement outlining why they brought her back a few weeks after letting her go. After NewsBae was fired, there was an outcry to have her reinstated from viewers on various social networking sites.
Hashtags NewsBae and #BringBackOurNewsBae were created in solidarity with Takawira. Takawira was branded NewsBae by her followers on Twitter in reference to her beauty.
