Over 80,000 People Want Raven-Symoné Fired

Raven Symone
Raven-Symoné gets paid to share her opinion as co-host of The View, but a growing number of people think she's gone too far into troll territory.

An online petition on Change.org has gathered over 75,000 signatures, after just two days, calliing for Raven to be fired from the morning talk show.

“African Americans and Black people around the diaspora need a voice representative of their views and not a voice representative of what white people want us to say," the petition states. "We need strong Black role models in prominent positions on television and Raven-Symoné cannot provide that.”

Indeed, Raven has put her foot in her mouth over and over again this past year. It all started last October, when she appeared on Oprah’s Where are they Now and declared her dislike for labels by saying, “I’m not an African American, I’m an American.”

Back in May, she struck again after she defended Univision host Rodner Figueroa after he was fired for saying Michelle Obama looked like an ape. During the discussion on The View, she said, “Some people look like animals."

And the hits kept coming: from “All Lives Matter” to “ghetto” names (“I’m not about to hire you if your name is Watermelondrea”), Raven caused a stir one too many times.

But the last straw for viewers was her opinion on the Spring Valley High School assault this past week. While most were outraged seeing footage of a so-called "peace officer" brutally harassing a high school student, Raven opted to blame the victim. “The girl was told multiple times to get off the phone.

There’s [no] right or reason for him to be doing this type of harm, that’s ridiculous. But at the same time, you gotta follow the rules in school," she reasoned. "First of all, why are there cellphones in school? This shouldn’t even be a problem to begin with, and he shouldn’t have been acting like that on top of it.” BET
