SUNGURA musician Peter Moyo (pictured) — affectionately known as Young Igwe — has joined Northern Region Division 2 Yadah Football Club, which is owned by Prophetic, Healing and Deliverance (PHD)Ministries leader Walter Magaya, as a striker.

Both Moyo and Magaya confirmed the development.

“That is true, I have joined Yadah Football Club. I have been training with them for the past two months. I have been registered as a striker with the team,” Moyo told NewsDay yesterday.

“Currently I am engaged in fitness training and, as it stands, by June I will be ready to have a place in the first 11.”

Speaking on the sidelines of the PHD Ministries Miracle Crusade on Friday Night, Magaya said the Mushonga Mukuru hitmaker was now a member of his church and has since joined his soccer team.

“Peter Moyo is now a member of the church and he has joined Yadah FC as a player. That’s all I can say,” Magaya said.

Moyo, whose music career has attracted its fair share of controversies, however, assured his fans that he was not going to drop the micro phone for football, but would strike a balance between the two.

He said football was not a new thing for him as he only hung up his boots after the death of his father, having played for Lancashire Steel Under-19 team until 2009 when he had to take over Utakataka Express.

“I am still into music, I will never stop performing,” he said.

Yadah FC was born out of Yadah Gunners, while the latter is now a developmental side for premier league giants CAPS United.

Meanwhile, fast rising contemporary musician Andy Muridzo was also spotted at the miracle crusade where he occupied a front row seat alongside his wife.

He could neither confirm nor deny whether or not he was now a member of the church, but said he had come to attend the service.
