Magistrate robbed and beaten up by hookers after failing to pay for services

GOKWE regional magistrate Shepherd Mugwagwa, 34, on Thursday dragged a s.ex worker he frequently hired for s.ex to court on allegations that she robbed him of $156, a phone, his driver’s licence and bank cards.

The state alleged that the lady of the night, Pamela Hamandawa, 21, and her friends used violence and threats to induce Mugwagwa to surrender his money and other possessions.

Hamandawa, 21, however denied the charges and told court a different story. She argued that Mugwagwa had not paid for a b.low-job.

Hamandawa further told court that the magistrate was a long-time client who would hire her for s.ex each time he came to the capital.

She was charged with robbery and remanded in custody awaiting trial continuation. Prosecutors alleged that Mugwagwa was sitting in his car around 7 am on the 26th of this month.

The court heard that he was approached by one unidentified man who was carrying a rim and two tyres which fits Mugwagwa’s car. The man then persuaded the magistrate to buy the tyres and further lured him to Treckered Court, a brothel, claiming he owned an office on the second floor.

Upon arrival at the alleged office, the man then shoved Mugwagwa into a room. There were two men inside and Hamandawa suddenly emerged from an inner room in the company of her two friends only identified as Chipo and Tafadzwa who are still at large.

The trio then accused Mugwagwa of having raped one of them some time ago and started assaulting him while searching his pockets.

They took $156, bank cards, driver’s licence, 20 litre Redan fuel coupons, a notepad and an Eco-cash debit card. The court further heard that they then demanded that Mugwagwa go to his bank under their escort to withdraw more money.

Hamandawa and her friends then hired a taxi and escorted Mugwagwa to Stanbic Samora Machel branch where he managed to escape and sought safety at Harare Central police station.

On 27 October, police were tipped that Hamandawa was at Treckered Court and organised an ambush, leading to her arrest. The total value of the property stolen was $336 and only $180 was recovered.
