RUSAPE: A local man raped and im.pregnated his 22-year-old brother`s daughter and gave her vegetables, sugarcane and R5 on different occasions to conceal the matter.
Munorwei Magaya, 42, of Chiterere village under Chief Nyashanu appeared before Rusape magistrate Shingi Mutiro facing charges of raping his brother’s daughter.
Magaya pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody to November 2 for trial. The court heard that sometime in June this year, Magaya raped his brother’s daughter on three separate occasions.
Prosecutors said the suspect invited the complainant to his work place at Zvavahera at Bhidhiri Business Centre in Dorowa where he raped her.
On the first day, Magaya invited the complainant to his workplace and began fondling her b.reast before pushing her down and raping her once.
Magaya gave the complainant some vegetables. On another occasion, he called the complainant again at his work place and raped her,later giving her R5 and sugarcane.
The matter came to light when the complainant`s mother noticed that her daughter was pregnant. She was interrogated and disclosed the abuse to her mother leading to Magaya`s arrest.
Prosecutor Thomas Tumbare represented the State.
